CAptain’s Mate of the Month – Saltstone Anchorage, Salcombe, UK

For October’s CAptain’s Mate of the Month, we take you to Saltstone anchorage, a serene spot near Salcombe on the southwest coast of the UK. While Salcombe is a well-known and beautiful destination, it can get busy, especially during peak season.

If you are looking for a quieter alternative, venture a little further upstream into the Kingsbridge Estuary, where you’ll find Saltstone at the entrance to Frogmore Creek. The anchorage offers good holding in sandy mud and is well sheltered.

Whether you have captured breathtaking landscapes, nature around you or moments on the water, we want to see your journey through the lens. Entries to the 2024 Photo Competition can be made online between 1 October 2024 through until 31 December 2024.

2024 Log Competition opens for entries with author Julia Jones as judge

The CA’s annual Log Competition is a cherished tradition, dating back to 1910 with the first awarding of The Love Cup. Celebrating the best cruising logs of the past season, the competition offers CA members a chance to win prestigious trophies across multiple categories.

Entries for the 2024 Log Competition can be made between 1 October to 31 December 2024, with winners announced in early 2025.
