Cruising Association launches free Guidance Notes to cruising the European Inland Waterways

Every year, a considerable number of sail and motor cruisers take their boats into the European Inland Waterways. However, finding accurate and up-to-date information about what is involved is not always easy.

France says ‘no’ to long stays without a visa for UK subjects

France has firmly rejected the proposed amendment to the French Immigration and Integration Bill, which sought to grant an automatic visa/visa waiver for 6 months to UK subjects who own 'secondary residences' in France. The decision by the French Constitutional Court on Thursday, January 24, 2024, is considered final, with no avenue for appeal.

The Cruising Association, in collaboration with its European Inland Waterways Section (EIWS), has published a comprehensive full-colour guide detailing moorings on the Canal de la Sambre à l'Oise and River Sambre.

Over 100 members have joined the European Inland Waterways Section in the last year and this is a wonderful opportunity for old and new to meet and enjoy the hospitality at the Cruising Association and, of course, we'll be very glad to welcome non-members to the seminar. The programme has been designed to suit cruisers venturing into Europe for the first time as well as updating those who have been cruising the waterways for years.

Cruising Association provides guidance on new Amsterdam vignette

A new scheme to reduce pollution and prevent overcrowding on the waterways of Amsterdam now requires most boats transiting the city to purchase a vignette.

Costing €40 and valid for three years, the charge applies to all Amsterdam waterways – including the Standing Mast Route used by hundreds of boats each year – with the exception of a few major waterways such as the Nordzeekanaal and Amsterdam-Rijnkanaal.
