Biological Oceanographer and artist Paul Rodhouse has spent his life working for British Antarctic Survey. He will introduce us to the art from the Antarctic expeditions from James Cook’s time to the present.

To Infinity and Beyond - Sailing in the Baltic by Amanda Wright

Through the Kiel Canal and into the Baltic on Infinity, an Oyster 406 deck saloon, exploring many unspoilt Danish Islands, the dramatic landscape of the West coast of Sweden and finally reaching the Öckerö Archipelago. Infinity wintered in Germany and may still be there.

What: Sailing in the Baltic talk, with or without a meal, at the RHYC.

When: Saturday 5th February 2022 - Doors open at 18:00, Dinner at 18:45, Talk and Webinar at 20:00.

The Pioneer Sailing Trust - Postponed.

We hope to be able to rearrange this talk for another date. Based locally at Harkers Yard, Brightlingsea, Essex, the Trust provides learning opportunities for young people to equip them with skills for life, both at sea and on land. Find out how this is achieved.

He has spent more than 40 years sailing and writing about the Mediterranean and in the progress has amassed an extensive collection of papers and books on the history of yachting in this area, and he himself is part of that history.

ORCA, Looking out for Whales and Dolphins, by Anna Bunney

This organisation specialises in collecting data about marine mammals through surveys in partnership with various shipping companies, including Fred Olsen based in Ipswich. The Sutton Hoo Project by Paul Constantine

“The Dig” on TV has brought to our attention the wonderful Anglo-Saxon treasure but the remains of the ship contains a wealth of information of great interest to an expert on Anglo-Saxon and Scandinavian crafts like Paul Constantine, who is leading a project to build a replica in the Long Shed in Woodbridge.  On his second visit to the Suffolk Section, Paul will give us an update on the progress made in Woodbridge on the Sutton Hoo Replica Project since last year.
