The fourth annual Open Weekend at Shotley Point Yacht Club, Ipswich, takes place May 25-26th and this year is being held in conjunction with the "Push the Boat Out" campaign to encourage visitors to try big boat sailing.

Organisers are making every effort to make the weekend family-friendly and a fun day out for everyone, as well as appealing to the out and out boating enthusiast.

Come and see if you can find the perfect companion(s) for your next voyage.

Skippers can meet potential Crew face to face, and Crew can assess the skippers before signing on.

Join the meeting, at the Royal Harwich Yacht Club, Woolverstone, to make new contacts, then Lunch available whilst you plan dates for further meetings & trial sails.

Coffee will be available from 10.00, and the meeting will start at 10.30.

Non-members are also welcome to attend to find out more about the CA Crewing Service and the opportunities available.

Once again you are invited to join the activities ashore & afloat for the 2019 May Rally.

Suffolk, Essex, and Kent Sections ask you to celebrate the start of the Sailing Season in true Cruising Association style at the informal Rally, featuring some cruising, gentle competition, activities ashore, Art Exhibition, entertainment, eating, drinking and yarning, with friends old and new.

Join us for an all day seminar discussing Sailing Round Britain with experience from:

Paul Heiney is best known as a television presenter but it is sailing that has probably brought him the most pleasure. He bought his first boat, a dinghy, at 19.

Nick Chavasse learned to sail on the Norfolk Broads aged six, and grew up sailing Wayfarers. He has been cruising for over 30 years in various cruising grounds around Western Europe but says that he always finds himself back in Brittany.

Supper £14. Price includes attendance at the talk. There is a charge of £5 per head for members attending for talks only.

Capt Ian McNaught is an excellent speaker. He was Captain of the Cunard Liner Queen Elizabeth ll for many years and will entertain us with stories from her very beginnings until her retirement.

Jonathan Dyke, Managing Director of Suffolk Yacht Harbour and a keen sailor with a classic yacht, will talk about the excavation, construction and development of the Harbour over the years, and about their future plans.

Matthew Davis, the senior officer at the Border Force based in Harwich, will speak about the work of the Border force in its various streams, especially in connection with yachtsmen spotting suspicious activity at sea and in harbour.
