The Cruising Association partners with Henri Lloyd to offer generous member discounts

The Cruising Association (CA), the UK's foremost member organisation for cruising sailors, is delighted to announce a relaunch of its partnership with leading marine clothing brand Henri Lloyd, to take immediate effect.

New look for the CA South West Section

Enlarged area

A major revamp of the South West Section is being launched today, Tuesday March 6th, with an enlarged coverage area, the introduction of the SWNet forum and the release of the first of a series of South West podcasts.

The South West section now includes the former Lyme Bay Section and now extends to Bristol. It now covers from Portland Bill to the Isles of Scilly and from the Isles of Scilly to Bristol.

Croatian boat tax may be delayed

The CA’s protest over an increase in Croatian Sojourn Tax of up to 492% for a 12-15m boat and 540% for a 15-20m boat has led to a review by the government, which will come into effect on January 1, 2019.

However, the campaign continues in the hope that 2017 rates will be accepted throughout the current year. The best advice to members is not to be too hasty in offering to pay the tax until the situation becomes clearer.

Summer discount on CA cabin accommodation

CA members already enjoy the benefit of great value overnight accommodation at CA House but from May through August (2018) inclusive, there will be a 20% discount offered.

Venice Winter Berth Competition 2018

Back by popular demand is a repeat of the 2017 competition to win a winter berth in Venice. The prize is a berth afloat at Marina Certosa Venezia so, with flights from the UK from as little as £25 each way, this prize offers the lucky winner the opportunity to stay aboard their own boat for winter breaks exploring the city of Venice.

The berth is for a boat of up to 12m in length and does not cover lift-out/re-launch, electricity or water during your stay.

Raymarine simulator rig in CA library

A Raymarine simulator rig, containing their latest MFD (multifunction display), the Axiom Pro MFD, will be installed in the CA library by mid February.  The simulator will also include a P70s autopilot control head and an I70s multifunction instrument display.

As these instruments will run in simulator mode, you'll be able to try them out and see how they'd really work at sea.
