Solent

The Bistro night is a new event for us where members get together in small groups to have a supper in their favourite bistro. Suggestions for bistro's you'd like to visit, across the Solent area, are most welcomed. This will create little clusters of members gathering together for an evening out to talk boats and sailing and other things. Perhaps Les Mirabelles, in the New Forest or Abarbistro, Old Portsmouth? We'd love to hear about your favourites too...

The Games night is new to our programme and the idea came about when discussing having a bridge night on our boats. We've then extended this to any card game or games members might like to suggest. Together with a supper shared by members this is a very sociable occasion for groups of 4-8. Please let us know if you could host this evening on your boat

The Christmas dinner event has moved to Tuesday 3rd December and is to take place at Emsworth Sailing  Club where the chef Ollie has a great reputation.

The lunch is a 2-course hot buffet (main and dessert) served with tea & coffee.

The Discovery Tour takes us through the College and the Sea Survival Centre, which mimics the conditions at sea. Please note that the RNLI College is a working venue and so we cannot guarantee access to the wave tank or simulator due to training requirements.

This tour is 90 minutes long.

The evening’s talk is entitled “To the far side of the world” by Paul Ellis and covers the highs and lows of our circumnavigation.  The highs include the Panama Canal, the Pacific Islanders and sealife (whales, sharks etc).  The lows are a hurricane, mending boats in exotic places and piracy! Our Laying Up Supper is a great opportunity to meet CA friends and exchange tales of the past season over a meal and a few drinks.

Subsequent to the cancellation of the talk for Thursday 21 March we wondered if you would like to join us at Banana Wharf, Universal Marina for a supper only at 7pm. Choose from a wide selection on the menu and pay direct to the restaurant on the night. 'Alfresco dining by the water. Located on the east bank of the Hamble river offering idyllic views across the Solent'.

We are holding our Fitting out supper at The Creek, Haslar Marina for a two course dinner on Saturday night at 7pm. Please would members attending in their boat reserve a place at either Haslar or Gosport Marina.
