Cruising Association Statement regarding Returned Goods Relief (RGR)

At a meeting with HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) on 14 December 2022, attended by RATS (Regulations and Technical Services Group) on behalf of the CA and by other boating organisations, it was announced that no changes will be made to the VAT rules for boats located in the EU on 31 December 2020 that had never been in the UK under their current ownership. If such boats enter UK waters while owned by a UK resident then UK VAT will be payable.

CA Annual General Meeting

The CA’s Annual General Meeting took place on the evening of Wednesday 9 November 2022 at CA House, London.

Members and voting delegates were welcomed by Derek Lumb, CA President and Bob Garrett, Chair of Council, together with other Council members.

Jules Dussek becomes Secretary of the European Inland Waterways Section

Former CA President, Jules Dussek, has become the new Secretary for the CA’s European Inland Waterways Section (EIWS).

After many years of dedicated contribution as EIWS Secretaries, Betsan and Neil Caldwell have handed over the helm, with Jules taking up the post from 1 November. The CA is exceptionally grateful for Betsan and Neil’s significant and longstanding contribution to promote the EIWS and support members’ cruising.

CA Council member Caroline Milmo has taken over as Chair of the CA’s Honorary Local Representatives (HLRs) group.

The CA welcomes Malcolm Davidson to lead the Crewing Service

A warm welcome to CA member Malcolm Davidson who has taken over chairing the CA Crewing Service from long-term chair Caroline Milmo.

The CA extends a huge thank you to Caroline for the past seven years leading the Crewing Service, as she switches her time to take on the lead of the Honorary Local Representatives (HLRs) group.
