Talk by Linda Crew-Gee ‘The Rescue of Gipsy Moth IV’

Fellow CA member Linda Crew-Gee has been sailing all her life, firstly on her father's fishing boat in her homeland, Croatia.

She moved to the UK after university and made London her home, and has lived aboard her own designed canal houseboat on the Regent's Canal for several

years.

As well as being a Cape Horner, Linda has sailed in warmer climes too.

The Chequers is located in the charming village of Goldhanger on the River Blackwater in Essex. We really enjoyed our last visit in January with a great lunch and a stroll down Goldhanger Creek afterward

Following earlier successful fitting out suppers at the RBYC we have arranged another event there again this year. The food at the RBYC is excellent and the company always convivial. The views from the club over the Crouch are superb.

Those not already members of The Cruising Association who join the CA on the night will get their meals free!!!

Midweek Waterfront Lunch, 24th February 2016

The Swan Inn, Lower Street, Stratford St Mary. CO7 6JR

We have tried to pick pubs alternately in the North or South of Maritime Essex and so this month we have picked the well reviewed Swan at Stratford St Mary, on the river Stour near Dedham Vale in the heart of Constable County. The pub boasts a good well kept cellar and brews some of its own beer.  The reviews of the food are good.

Essex Section Festive Celebration 2015

We hope to see old and new friends at our Christmas dinner and social evening. 

£13 per head CA and BSC members, £15 per head for other guests for 2 course dinner, followed by mince pies and tea/coffee.

After dinner get ready for the now famous CA Yankee Grab. A variation on “Secret Santa” everyone please bring a wrapped gift (maybe suitable for a sailor if you like) but don’t spend more than £5.  It’s the thought that counts! All will be revealed on the night.
