Back in 2013 we bought a new to us Lagoon 380, which we named Matilda in Athens and spent two lovely summers cruising Greece, Italy and up to the Ballierics with a plan to slowly sail her back to Australia where we now live. Unfortunately life had other plans and we ended up back in the UK where Andy spent the next 15 months getting chemotherapy and a stem cell transplant for Multiple Myeloma. Luckily for us both, the treatment was successful and he is currently in remission. We have made it back to Australia slightly battered but unbeaten!

Our blog serves as a personal record of our adventures and experiences since leaving the UK in 2012 whilst allowing family and friends to keep up-to-date with our whereabouts. We hope that our blog provides some useful information for other sailors who may be planning a similar adventure to ours.
Our dream to take early retirement and cruise slowly down and into the Med unexpectedly came early... 15 year's early, due to us being made redundant (we both worked for the same company). At the time we could have 'played it safe', got new employment and continued working until retirement however we decided that life is too short and that we should take the risk and see where it takes us... please feel free to follow us on our travels by visiting The adventures of Yacht Flirtie at www.sailblogs.com/member/distantdrummer/

Audrey suffered a severe leg wound while Solace of Mull (our Dehler 41 DS) was still on shore at the excellent Cleopatra Yard, Preveza, in March 2015, then spent a week in hospital, decided that sailing was not a possibility and returned home to Mull under the caring supervision of friends. Alas, the would has still not healed, despite the expertise of our Mull Community nurses, and as a result she has not been able to go forward for a much needed second hip replacement. Juliet + Family came out to Corfu to sail with James in July, which worked well, but he then had to return to Mull for
