Thursday, 11th December 2014, James and Carol Littlewood

This year James and Carol converted from sail to motor and will relate their experience and how they were welcomed by the Dutch air force as they approached Vlissingen. They will tell us of the Grand Tour. Into Belgium via the Gent Terneuzen Canal, then the Meuse, Canal De L'Est, the Mosel and back via the Rhine and Rotterdam.

James has his own inimitable style, so I am sure that it will prove a good pre Christmas treat !!!

The Adventures of Santy, Thursday 11th of November

The adventures of Santy and how the trips and crews are organised. This year a number of young Day Skippers completed courses on-board Santy with the season taking in the Solent and the Round the Island Race, continuing westward with different crews to Plymouth and Brixham probably returning via the Scillies and the French Coast and then, on her way home to Chatham hoping to join us for the Sandwich Festival Rally.

Captain Bill Sadler Master of the Trinity House Vessel Patricia, Thursday 9th of October

Starts at 11am with a brief history of Trinity House followed by a tour of the Operational Headquarters and finishing with a trip to the buoyage yard.

We may strike lucky and if one of the THV’s Galatea, Alert or Patricia are alongside we may also have the opportunity to go on board

Prince Henry the Navigator - Portugals Pioneer of Maritime Exploration with Graham Anthony.

Henry's shipwrights innovated, his scholars improved celestial navigation, and his seamen mastered the winds and ocean currents. Freed from the control of Islam, Portugal was then able to trade in the Spice Islands, across the Atlantic, and expand Christendom.

Meetings begin at 19:00 for those that would like to eat with the talks beginning at 20:10.
