Programme:
10:30 Atlantic Crossing/Circuit: A skipper’s view from planning to completion - Charles Delaney
Shortly after their marriage Charles and Caroline took a year’s sabbatical to complete an Atlantic Circuit. Leaving in the Autumn of 2021 they sailed via France, Portugal, Canaries, and Cape Verde to St. Lucia in the Caribbean. They returned to the U.K. from the Bahamas via Bermuda and the Azores. Q & A
11:45 Do you need a 3D printer on board? - Boyd Goldie
Boyd Goldie is a recently retired orthopaedic surgeon. He sails his 2001 Oyster 49 with his wife Debbie, sailing throughout the Mediterranean and currently based in Lefkas, Greece. He admits to being quite a ‘techie’ and has been an early proponent of 3D printing in his work and now for boat ownership. If you need a washer or gasket mid-ocean this might be the way to go!! Boyd is so convinced that he now carries one on his boat. Q & A
Lunch (Bar Open)
14:00 Fishing from your yacht - Charles Delaney
Charles started fishing during his Atlantic crossing – a novice - and learnt as he went along. He found it so worthwhile he is keen to pass his fishing knowledge on. Q & A
15:00 Atlantic Crossing: a crew’s view & opinions - Jonathan Boon
Jon has crewed on two Atlantic crossings in both directions and has been crew on many other trips including Ipswich to Thessalonika, lots of channel hops and more. He has skippered charter boats in the Caribbean, Pacific islands, Vancover; giving insight to both sides of the coin, but today he will be wearing his crewing hat to pose questions to the audience.
