We always try to include a presentation from people who earn their living on the water, and this year we anticipate an informative talk about the role the Border Force has, and will have, in these complex and changing times.

Caroline Milmo: Sailing with Strangers at Lilliput Sailing Club, 200a Sandbanks Road, Poole, Dorset BH14 8HA. The talk will start at 19.30, although the bar tends to open at about 19.00. There's no need to book, just turn up.

Caroline is on the CA's Council and runs the CA's Crewing Service. She has sailed with a wide variety of skippers on a wide variety of boats and has had a wide variety of interesting experiences. We look forward to an entertaining talk.

Wessex members have the opportunity to share last season's cruises, or their future plans.

Hot from a talk at the Scottish Boat Show, Mike Henderson is the man to go to in the CA's Baltic Section to find out about cruising in Iceland and Greenland. In the email he sent me agreeing to do the talk, he said that he was waiting in Husavik, on the North coast of Iceland, for the ice to clear so that he could visit Scoresby Sound  on the East Coast of  Greenland. I think we can expect an interesting account of sailing in the challenging North.

This is the annual opportunity for members to talk about their past cruises, or future plans. At time of writing, there are already some offers, but if you ask nicely we shall probably be able to squeeze you in.

The bar will be open well before the talk starts.

Tuesday 16th. October 2018: First Time Back from the Baltic. Michael Prewett talks about his trip back from the Baltic, largely single-handed, from the Flensburger Fjord, via the Kiel Canal, most of the Staand Mast Route through Leeuwarden, a European City of Culture, and Amsterdam, and thence to Poole, and the influences it may exert on his future sailing plans.

Tuesday 19th. February at Parkstone Yacht Club: Around Ireland Anti-clockwise: Julian and Alison Cable. No need to book - just turn up!

In 2016 Julian and Alison Cable completed an anti-clockwise circumnavigation of Ireland, in Robinetta, their 22’6” LOA wooden gaff cutter.

They took nearly eight weeks to complete this cruise, starting and finishing in Strangford Lough.
