CA House and Cabin Regulations

CA House Regulations

a) General

  1. During office hours, the premises are under the control of the senior member of CA Staff present.
  2. At other times when the premises are open to members, they are to be under the control of a Member appointed by the Committee responsible for the opening.
  3. At times when no responsible Member or member of CA Staff is present, the control of the premises is the responsibility of the senior member of the Bar Staff.
  4. Unsupervised children are not allowed in CA House at any time
  5. Such responsible persons are to be fully acquainted with the fire warning and protection equipment, means of escape, burglar alarm and security system, telephone system and availability of first-aid. They are responsible for checking and securing the premises on leaving.
  6. Smoking is not permitted in CA House.
  7. No animals other than guide dogs are allowed on the premises.
  8. Parking of vehicles on Association property is restricted to those having legitimate business at CA House. Parking is at the owners’ risk.
  9. Members are responsible for the security of all personal property and the Cruising Association cannot be held responsible for any loss or damage to such property.
  10. Members must settle any bills or charges before leaving CA House.
  11. All persons using the premises must be appropriately dressed.  No foul weather gear or dirty working clothing is allowed.  Shorts are acceptable during hot weather, but shirts and footwear must be worn.

b) Admission to CA House

There may be admitted to the Association’s premises, in addition to members and their bona fide guests, persons other than such members and guests who are:

  1. Attending the Association’s premises for instructional classes, lectures, meetings or functions; or
  2. Current members of yacht clubs or other organisations affiliated to the Association on terms that include access to CA House; or
  3. Bona fide visiting yachtsmen; or
  4. Members of the Crewing Service; or
  5. Employees of the Association and their bona fide guests; or
  6. Permitted to use the premises or part of the premises as a result of the premises or part ofthe premises being permitted by Council to be used by other organisations and businesses.

 

Cabin Regulations

a) Booking

  1. A berth may be booked in one of the five twinbedded cabins for a period of three nights in any one-week up to a maximum of ten nights in any one calendar month apart from exceptional or extraordinary circumstances.
  2. The berth should be pre-booked. Credit card details will be taken at the time of booking and the cost will be charged on the day of the booking.
  3. There is a cancellation fee of £10 if CA Staff are not notified before 1600 hrs on the day before the booking. A full charge will be made for non-attendance.

b) Sharing

  1. If all cabins are in use, Members may be expected to share with another Member unless payment is made for double occupancy.

c) Access

  1. Cabin key and an entry card for the front doors of the building should be collected from the CA Office during office hours, Monday to Friday 10.30- 17.30. After office hours and at weekends, these may be collected from the Bar Staff, Monday to Friday 18.30-22.00, Saturday and Sunday 12.00-16.00.
  2. Outside office hours, returned keys are to be left in the box provided on the first floor landing.
  3. When leaving the building outside office hours, both sets of front doors must be firmly secured.
  4. Cabins are available for occupancy from 12.00 hrs and are to be vacated by 09.30 hrs on the day of departure.

d) Balconies

  1. Any person wishing to use the balconies does so at their own risk and must first satisfy themselves that their footwear is appropriate for the slatted decking

e) Smoking

  1. Smoking is forbidden by law in cabins. (Each cabin is fitted with a highly sensitive smoke sensor which is linked to the fire alarm of the building).
