Continental Inland Waterways

After a liftime sailing the 'seven seas' - well British and Mediterranean waters - we are now exploring the inland waterways of the continent.

I keep a detailed personal log, with photographs, of all our trips and would be happy to supply a copy of these to anyone who is interested.  Please contact me on johnandbrenda28@aol.com.  As well as France we have France to Greece via Corsica, the Ionian islands, the Pelopponese, and Greece to France via Italy.

We bought a Dutch cruiser in the Netherlands and sailed it from Holland through Belgium to northern France.  After 3 years based in the Ardennes we have now moved down to the Burgundy area and will be based in Auxerre for a year or two.

We first travelled through the French canals on our way to Greece in 1999 and our trip was so packed with interest and incident that I wrote a book about it.  It is 'Floating Through France' ISBN No. 1-90444-19-3 and available through most bookshops, Amazon and the publisher www.librario.com. In 2008 I also brought out 'Floating Through Holland', available from Amazon or the publisher www.lulu.com.

We have now launched our website which tells you everything you ever wanted to know about travelling through the French canals.   Visit it at http://davisons-afloat.com/index.php. Happy cruising
