Cruising and Technical Advice
Our team will be on hand throughout the Boat Show and our dedicated drop-in sessions will share practical advice and answer your burning technical questions. We can guide you through a myriad of regulation and legislation topics, such as VAT, Brexit, craft registration, entry and exit formalities, navigation, electric propulsion, 90/180 stays, red diesel and any other questions which impact your boating. The drop-in sessions are open to all, member or non-member, from 1400-1630 hours on both Fridays and Saturdays of the Boat Show - 16, 17, 23 and 24 September 2022.
Supporting your cruising adventures, CA experts will also be giving talks on the Foredeck Stage, including:
- Buying a Boat - various specialists - covering insurance, brokers and finance - along with members of the RATS team who will discuss VAT issues at 1200 on Saturday 17, Sunday 18 and Friday 23 September and 1130 on Saturday 24 September
- About the CA - Derek Lumb, CA President will introduce the role and benefits of the CA at 1230 on Saturday 17 September
- Channel Crossing – Bob Garrett will explain paperwork, processes and experiences on cruising to France followed by a Q&A at 1130 on Friday 23 September
2023 CA Almanac
The 2023 edition of our renowned Cruising Almanac will be available to purchase at the show, at just £25 for members and £35 for non-members. Recognised as the go-to on board reference for cruising sail and motor boats, the Cruising Almanac features the Shetlands in the north around the coasts and islands of Great Britain and Ireland, and spans the continent from Bergen into the approaches to the Baltic and down to Gibraltar. Published by Imray in a handy to read A4 format, with passage notes, general information, tidal information, detailed chartlets and more, the Cruising Almanac is the perfect companion to ensure enjoyable and safe passages in and out of harbours, rivers and anchorages.

Come and explore our exclusive to members cruising app. CAptain’s Mate provides an unrivalled breadth of information and cruising reports covering 6,500+ locations around the world, providing up to date, accurate and informative location data on anchorages, marinas, ports, harbours, boatyards and quays.
The app’s worldwide coverage across 77+ countries reflects our international membership, with 20,000+ member contributions and reports providing trusted first-hand insights and practical knowledge on locations and local interest.
Prizes
There will be plenty of fantastic prizes up for grabs on our stand for members and non-members, giving you the chance to ramp up your cruising life.
The CA is counting down to our Summer Big Prize Draw of a £2,000 AquaMarine voucher, which can be spent across AquaMarine’s entire product range, covering everything from safety, deck hardware, lighting, steering and controls, dinghy and outboard equipment, anchoring and mooring, technical apparel, water systems, cabin and galley and much more. During the show, CA members can enter the draw, which closes at 1200 hours on Wednesday 21 September, by visiting the CA stand.
The Winter Big Prize Draw will launch in partnership with Lalizas UK on 22 September, with members able to win £2,000 of products from their new Marine Equipment Selection Catalogue – watch this space.

Membership Offers
The CA is offering membership discounts throughout the Boat Show, with 10% off* the first year of full membership and there is no joining fee. If you are a member of a partner Boat Owner Association/Club/Organisation or are referred by an existing member, the discount increases to 25%*. New members will also receive a complimentary CA Burgee and an invitation to our welcome seminar at the CA clubhouse in London.
