A presentation by David Allsop, Assistant Harbour Master, Port of London Authority.
The Port of London, comprising the tidal Thames from Teddington to the Outer Limits, is the UK's busiest port for commercial shipping; the site of a huge variety of recreational activity afloat; a stage for events; a living link to the history and culture of the areas through the Thames passes; and a beautiful & vibrant natural environment. Managing the safety of navigation for vessels of all types and sizes is a constant challenge for the Port of London Authority, balancing this against the protection of the environment; support for public, community and cultural events; and development of economic opportunities with wide impact. This presentation will explore the approach taken and challenges faced.
