CANCELLED

Regretfully, we have decided to cancel the talk by Duncan Wells on Tuesday 17th. March.

All the evidence suggests that numbers of attendees will be down, and since Duncan likes to sell books and safety equipment at talks, it would be unfair to expect him to do a round trip of over 200 miles to deliver one of his invariably interesting talks to a diminished audience. Goodness knows how all this is going to pan out, but we are planning to re-book Duncan for next winter's programme.

Whether any of us get any boating in is up in the air, I guess, but if you get the chance, happy sailing.

Finally, in my paper yesterday I came across this quote from Daniel Defoe's A Journal of the Plague Year about the refusal to self-isolate - "they did not take the least care or make any scruple of infecting others."

Hopefully, see you all in October,

Michael Prewett.
