Essex Section Supper & Talk: Stress Free Sailing
Venue: Blackwater Sailing Club (map)
Date: Saturday 9th March 2019
Time: 19:00 (supper), talk begins 20:00, you can expect to get away by 22:00
Attending: All welcome. CA & BSC members: talk and meal £15, talk only £3. Non members: talk and meal £17, talk only £5
Talk: Duncan Wells is an RYA instructor and features writer for Yachting Monthly. He specialises in developing and teaching shorthanded solutions for the every day tasks of sailing couples including:
- getting off and then back onto the dock in a variety of wind and tide configurations,
- sail setting and reefing,
- picking up mooring buoys
- anchoring
- sailing in heavy weather and
- new techniques for man overboard retrieval
I'm sure this talk will be especially useful for those new to cruising but I'm equally certain I'll learn a thing or two myself.
Supper:
Pork en croute
Fish Pie
Baked gnocchi with tomatoes, mozzarella and pine nuts
-------------------------
Chocolate apple brioche pudding
Roasted apricots with rosewater creme fraiche
Cheese & Biscuits
There is plenty of parking space.
As usual the bar will be available. Please note that the CA now need to subsidise the bar if the takings are not sufficient to cover the cost of opening it so attendees are encouraged to make make full use of the facilities. (Except of course for your designated driver!)
A flyer is attached, please print for your sailing club notice board. Find this event in our online bookings facility or contact the section secretary at essex@theca.org.uk. BSC members can sign up at the club. You can turn up and pay on the door but we won't promise a meal unless you have booked.
