Golden Globe Rally Les Sables d'Olonne

Golden Globe Rally   Mustering 15/16 June 2018

Our patron, Sir Robin Knox-Johnston will be sailing Suhaili in company with the entrants to the Golden Globe Race from Falmouth to Les Sable d’Olonne for the start of the Golden Globe Race on July 1^st. He predicts that he will arrive there between June 17^th and 20^th.  Sir Robin has suggested that CA boats join him so that a friendly Armada sails into Les Sables. Port Joinville could be a suitable rallying point for the final passage. Pierre Lambot, our HLR in Les Sables d’Olonne is liaising with the marina on our behalf. Although we are not able to book berths this far ahead of the occasion, thanks to Pierre’s persistence, we have received confirmation from the Mayor of Les Sables d’Olonne that the CA boats escorting Suhaili to Les Sables will be welcome. This is a very special opportunity, and we anticipate an enthusiastic response, so applications will be taken strictly in order.

We plan to muster at Port Joinville on the Ile d'Yeu. Suhaili will be sailing with the Golden Globe competitors from Falmouth to Les Sables d'Olonne.  We will rendez-vous with Suhaili after she passes the Ile d'Yeu and sail in company with her. The exact time and place has yet to be arranged! The island is delightful. There will be festivities and celebrations once we arrive in Les Sables d'Olonne. 

If you would like to join this Rally, please complete the attached Rally Form and email it to as soon as possible.  All participating boats will be expected to sail under the CA burgee as the CA is the only cruising organisation of which Sir Robin is the patron. We have requested 10 berths in Les Sables, and possibly could arrange for more, but space may be limited.

This is golden opportunity to become involved in a very special occasion.
