Coach trip to the Greenwich Museums
Visit the Royal Observatory to see the Harrison Chronometers and much else of interest and the newly renovated Cutty Sark. The price of £45 per head includes coach from Woolverstone with a pick up point at Colchester ‘Park and Ride’ just off the A12, entry to the Royal Observatory, Cutty Sark and the National Maritime Museum, a ‘Quick Lunch’ in the Maritime Museum Brasserie of soup, sandwich and tea and coffee, and all gratuities.
Bookings are now being taken, but will only be accepted accompanied by full payment (see the Suffolk section September newsletter for details).
Full programme and joining instructions to follow in due course. Note that some walking is involved, around the museums and particularly 15 minutes downhill from the Observatory to the NM museum and also 10 minutes to and from the coach at Greenwich.
BBC 2 broadcast an excellent programme on Saturday 2 September all about Cutty Sark - “Clydebuilt: The Ships That Made the Commonwealth” containing much new information (new to me anyway) on her history. It may still be available on BBC iPlayer, if you are quick, and is well worth watching.
