If you sail on the west coast of the UK, anywhere around Ireland or the Isle of Man, (or plan to soon) this day is for you.
Five interesting speakers will talk on a range of topics as follows:
Michael Prewitt "Poole to Barra and Back" is an account of a largely solo first-time cruise to the Outer Hebrides, hopefully capturing some of the flavour and magic of Ireland and the West coast of Scotland.
David Lovejoy "What the CA can do for you?" Dave will demonstrate our app 'CAptain's Mate' and explain other ways in which the CA supports its members wherever they cruise.
Douglas Adisson "The Clyde to the Forth via the Orkneys"
Vyv Cox "Anchors and Anchoring" Vyv's talk examines the main attributes of anchors in current use, gives reasons why some are more successful than others and discusses the causes of known failures in several types. The results of destructive testing of shackles, connectors and chain are explained, with recommendations for optimum selection.
Simon Parker, Hon secretary, The Cruising Association of Ireland. Simon will talk about the origins, objectives, past activities and plans for the future.
To book your place please email reception@cruising.org.uk or telephone 0207 537 2828.
