David Moody is one of the 6th generation of Moodys to have run the family business and has worked for the company for over 40 years, until the date of its sale in December 2005. His niche area was new boat development, sales and marketing.
His talk supports the book 'The Moody Legacy', which covers the complete story of the company's development over some 175 years. The book and the talk contain many period photographs including yachts built by the company or bearing their name.
The story covers the family, the boats built (including the WW2 years), the area surrounding the boat yard and David’s childhood growing up alongside the river with memories including having famous "J" class yachts such as Valsheda and Endeavour laid up in mud berths just outside his father's house on Swanwick Shore in the early to mid 1950s.
Talks take place at the Early Bird PH, Grove Green, Maidstone, just off Junction 7 of the M20
