The R34 Airship – the First Double Atlantic Crossings. Terry Hayward FRIN.
Joint meeting with the RHYC and Royal Institute of Navigation Anglia Branch
Terry Hayward is an ex-RAF Navigator in Vulcan and Canberra bombers and a former Vice President of the RIN. He will give an account of how the navigational skills used by seafarers for centenaries were adapted for aviation, in particular during the short history of the large airships, which were, indeed, thought of as Air Ships rather than as Air Craft. There are some strong local connections which will add particular interest to the evening.
