At sea, unforeseen circumstances can arise, and having local support is invaluable. That is why the CA maintains a worldwide network of Honorary Local Representatives (HLRs) ready to assist members wherever they may be.
HLRs can help members with a range of issues, such as sourcing emergency repairs, finding moorings, securing visas, and translation. They can explain local customs and bureaucracy, help source spares and more. If they can't help, they will know someone who can.
The CA is delighted to welcome our new HLRs in Australia and France:
- Andrew Stopp / Melbourne – a CA member for over 14 years, Andrew covers the state of Victoria and is looking forward to meeting other members.
- Paul Hardcastle / Sydney – a CA member for over 10 years, Paul is also involved in the CA Blue Water Section. Paul will provide support to members spanning Sydney Harbour, Botany Bay, Port Hacking to the south, Pittwater and the Hawkesbury River
- Marcel Dutreux / France – manager of a boatyard at Port Bourgenay, Marcel is a keen sailor and racer. He will provide support to members in Southern Britanny, Port Bourgenay and Les Sables d’Olonne
Thank you and farewell
We share a huge thank you to the HLRs who have stepped down after many years of support:
- David Ascott / Melbourne, Australia.
- Pierre Lambot / Les Sables d’Olonne, France
- Carl Walters / Crete, Greece

Find HLRs on CAptain’s Mate
CAptain’s Mate, the exclusive to members app, shows all HLRs linked to locations and members can also run an HLR filter search.
Pins with a person symbol indicate HLRs. An orange/yellow HLR pin marks the primary location of an HLR. A plain yellow pin represents HLRs without a primary location, who cover a wider geographic area, with the pin location showing the middle of their area.
As well as the HLR search functions on CAptain’s Mate, members can also view a list of HLRs by country on the CA website.
