The CA’s Annual General Meeting took place on the evening of Wednesday 9 November 2022 at CA House, London.
Members and voting delegates were welcomed by Derek Lumb, CA President and Bob Garrett, Chair of Council, together with other Council members.
After the opening of the meeting and routine business, Bob Garrett reflected on the CA achievements over the past year. He highlighted the many successes achieved during a period of ongoing challenges, including growing membership, managing finances, enhancing membership services and boosting the CA profile among the wider sailing community. Thanks were expressed to the many volunteers who share their knowledge and support the CA network, as well as to the CA Committee members.
Following the Council report, the CA Treasurer, Richard Sherwood, presented the Financial Statements to year end 30 June 2022 which were approved. Richard reported on his upcoming retirement and invited any CA members interested in volunteering in a reduced role as the Honorary Treasurer, to contact CA House. Following the retirement of Peter Gray, a vacancy also exists for the CA Honorary Solicitor.
Moving to the Council membership, Bob Garrett will continue as Chair of Council for the next year, whilst Ken Munn steps down from Council. Gratitude was expressed to Ken for his contributions to Council over the past six years, the last three as Vice-President, and Ken will remain involved including supporting the CA Library.
As well as those delegates in attendance at CA House, the AGM was pleased to welcome a virtual audience from Antigua and Barbuda, Italy, Switzerland and the UK. Thank you to all our members who voted and attended the meeting.
