The annual CA Photo Competition is a wonderful platform to showcase experiences of sail and motor cruising.
Entries should be beautifully composed, high-quality photographs of anything relating to cruising or the CA. Whether you cruise local waters or further afield, all entries are welcome and members can submit multiple images. The competition opened on 1 October 2022 and runs until 31 December 2022.
Last year, the CA received over 130 entries featuring a diverse range of photos depicting every type of cruising journey; out on the water, moored in idyllic settings and relaxed time ashore. We were thrilled to receive photos, covering sunsets and sunrises, coastal wildlife, on-board BBQs, aerial shots, tranquil anchorages, sailing out a storm, stunning vistas, relaxed cruising and everything in between.

There are two categories to the annual Photo Competition:
- 2022 Photo Competition
These photos can be of any image depicting cruising or the CA. The winner will receive CA goodies, including a certificate, canvas bag and burgee, and three runners-up will each receive a certificate and burgee. - 2024 Cruising Almanac
The competition also includes selecting a photo for the front cover of the 2024 Cruising Almanac
Entries to the photo competition for the Cruising Almanac should make a visual statement, be taken within the geographic area covered by the Almanac, portray the lifestyle of cruising and encourage others to discover and be motivated to go cruising. If your entry is within the geographic area of the Cruising Almanac, it will automatically be entered into the competition.
As well as the honour of their photo gracing the cover, the winner will receive a year’s subscription to Explore with Imray.
The Judges
A well-known photographer will cast their professional eye over all the images and decide the winner and runners-up for the 2022 Photo Competition.
Former CA President and CA Almanac Group Chair, Judith Grimwade, will decide the winning photo for the 2024 Cruising Almanac.
