The CA’s big draw prize for 2020 offers a chance for members to win a transatlantic sailing trip worth £2250 with First Class Sailing.
Important: New entry rules for FCS Big Prize Draw
In light of the current restrictions on our cruising habits (or lack of them) we have amended the existing rules of entry into the CA’s Big Prize Draw to ensure members stand the best chance of winning!
From 1st May until the current closing date of 15 September 2020, we want you to recall your favourite cruise from last year and SEND US YOUR FAVOURITE PHOTOGRAPH taken during that cruise to sian@theca.org.uk. We are looking forward to receiving your special photographic cruising memories from 2019 and to you entering the Draw! You can send in as many photos as you wish, but there will only be ONE photo per member entered in the Draw. If you want to add the location of the photo or any other detail that would be great but it is not essential for your entry to be valid.
Members recommending new members will also be automatically entered into the draw.
The existing dates for taking the prize trip are subject to change and dependant on travel and social distancing restrictions.
The CA may wish to use your photos for CA Marketing purposes and we therefore ask you to indicate in your entry email if you do NOT want your pictures /text shared publicly. Thank you!
The prize up for grabs is a 35-night sail from Antigua to Portsmouth, departing 17 Feb 2021 for one person. FCS has also offered 10% off for a second person booking. The value is £2,250, and the prize includes insurance, safety gear, all food/drinks on board plus a training weekend in the Solent beforehand.
A spokesman at FCS says, “You will likely be pushed on this trip but the sense of satisfaction when you get to the UK will be huge! You can expect to get around 3500+ miles in your log book.”
The yacht was built to sail around the world and indeed has achieved this twice in the BT Global Challenge yacht race. She is a very safe and solid yacht, spacious and comfy and well suited to sailing in the Atlantic. She meets all MCA (Maritime and Coastguard Agency) safety Coding requirements.
There will be a professional skipper and mate aboard who will ensure your safety and give as much instruction as needed so that you the crew all come together to sail the boat as a team. You will take an active role in helping sail and run the boat. The accommodation is arranged towards the stern of the boat in areas of two and five comfy bunks. There is good refrigeration on board and a water maker so plenty of showers will be available.
From Antigua you will head north to get away from the easterly trade winds and into the more favourable westerlies. Whilst not guaranteed it is possible you will have a brief stop in the Azores. You are scheduled to reach Gunwharf Quays, Portsmouth on 24th March where you will depart.
The winner will need to cover their own flight costs and any food/drink whilst ashore. The draw is open to any CA member aged between 21 and 75 years (those aged 65 to 75 may need to pay an additional insurance premium).
Don’t forget that FCS also offers a discount to members on their courses. Login and visit the Discounts page on our website for more information.
