Visitors from abroad to the Netherlands often seem to miss the Dutch Frisian Islands (Waddeneilanden) on their travels through the country. For motorboaters, it really is a destination worth the trip. The island atmosphere, the wide mudflats at low tide (an UNESCO World Heritage Site), bird species, seals and the walking/biking trails make this is a special destination. Motorboaters can visit three of the islands at any tide, two require tidal planning. Machiel Lambooij and Remko Sinck, Dutch members of the CA, frequent these islands in between their trips on coastal areas of the North Sea, the Channel, and the Baltic and on the inland waterways of the continent. They wrote a CA Cruising Guide on the islands, that is freely downloadable in pdf for CA members from the European Inland Waterways Section Cruising Guides page. You need to be logged in as a CA member.
This event is open to all CA members as well as non-members.
