This two-day seminar is aimed at those both cruising the Med for the first time and those planning to move to new cruising grounds. Speakers are all Med CA members keen to share their knowledge and exchange ideas with the audience too. The whole weekend also offers the opportunity to meet fellow Med sailors, chat about experiences, future plans and all things cruising in a convivial environment.
STOP PRESS: We have now arranged that Rod and Lu Heikell will be giving the opening keynote talk on Saturday morning on preparations for Mediterranean sailing. They will also be doing Q&A sesssions on both days covering anything anyone wants to ask.
The event is open to all, CA members and non-members and you can attend either day or both. Tea, coffee & biscuits and a buffet lunch will be provided and are included in the ticket price.
Saturday will cover a variety of topics of general interest including preparing your boat for single-handed sailing by accident or design; hand injuries – avoidance and first aid; update on Greek formalities; the French visa and technical topics like maintenance of anchors, toilet and seacocks, and 3D printing for boats including a practical demonstration.
Sunday morning will feature talks on cruising in various regions of the Med including the Western Med, Croatia, Greece and Turkey. On Sunday afternoon the speakers will be manning country specific information tables for more informal chat and questions.
A full programme is included below.
Imray will have a stall selling a selection of books and charts each day, with special discounts for attendees, and CA regalia and books will also be on sale. A reminder that year round, members can benefit from discounts on Imray products - see the members' discounts page for details.
We will also hold a dinner on Saturday night at CA House for more socialising – meeting old friends and making new ones. The price is £20 for a 2 course meal with meat, fish and vegetarian options. This will need to be booked and paid for as part of your Eventbrite ticket. Arrangements can be made direct with Ania galley@theca.org.uk for meals meeting other dietary needs.
