South Pacific, Graham and Kate Walker

In late 2019 Graham and Kate Walker set sail from the Caribbean to cross the Pacific on their OVNI 395 ‘Barracuda of Islay’. In the Galapagos, COVID struck; and all their plans changed. The trip was now dominated by the difficulty of ‘where next’ decision-making as most Pacific countries closed their maritime borders or introduced tight controls; this was additionally complicated by the timing of the south Pacific cyclone season. Despite the challenges of the pandemic they were able to cruise through a relatively empty Pacific visiting Panama, the Galapagos, French Polynesia and Fiji before finally reaching New Zealand in October 2021.
