Vacancy: System Administrator & Support Engineer

We are looking for a system administrator & support engineer to extend our in-house ICT team. This part time role will be conducted remotely. Scheduling of working hours will be by agreement and we are open to discussion of flexible working. The role, which reports to the CTO, will involve maintaining and configuring web, email, and database server infrastructure alongside providing support up to 2nd and elements of 3rd line level to our members and other staff, based on knowledge of those systems. There may also be elements of development work, as we continually improve our systems and services.

Required technical skillset:

  • Open source server side web technologies
  • Javascript development;
  • reactive web development;
  • HTML; and
  • understanding of REST-based network APIs

Required characteristics of applicant:

  • ability to interface professionally with members; and
  • effective at self-led prioritisation and handling of workload.

Beneficial experience may include:

  • VueJS;
  • cloud hosting and virtualisation/containerisation;
  • mailserver administration;
  • single sign-on (SSO) systems;
  • experience of graph APIs;
  • geographic / GIS / navigation skills;
  • information security experience;
  • experience of membership and/or maritime organisations; and
  • previous helpdesk work.

Working hours: 2 - 2.5 days per week

Salary: £22,000 - £25,000 p.a.
