For many people, a circumnavigation of Great Britain is on their Bucket List and recent disruption to European Travel has been the push to get on and do it. Starting with Sam Steel, author of "UK and Ireland Circumnavigator's Guide." you know that you are in good hands. The speakers have at least 9 circumnavigations under their belts between them, and so they are ideally placed to advise where to go - and also where not to bother.

The Speakers
Sam Steele and Mags Campbell will talk about the planning, preparation and practicalities of a circumnavigation round our beautiful islands, including highlights from their trip. They will draw on theirs but also the experience of the 64 other circumnavigators that Sam surveyed for her book UK and Ireland Circumnavigator's Guide.
Bob Garrett is one of the joint Channel Secretaries, and is the ideal person to tell us about the attractions (and places to avoid) on this 350 mile long leg of the journey
Derek Lumb: Is a joint Secretary of the Celtic Section and has lived on the west coast of both England and Wales for most of his life. In 2005 he set off around Britain with his wife Jean and their dog Meg, a journey which had grabbed his imagination since watching John Noakes go round Britain with the Blue Peter dog, Shep. Since then they have circumnavigated 5 more times including taking in the West Coast of Ireland and going Round the most northerly point of the British Isles (Out Stack)
Alan Kohler is a joint Secretary of the Celtic Section. He lives on the East Coast of Scotland but keeps his boat on the West Coast, wintering in the Clyde. He has sailed the West Coast for over 20 years and has an obsession with islands, having landed on 101 out of the 106 islands on the west coast of Scotland listed in Hamish Haswell-Smith’s iconic book
Roger Clark bought a Westerly Fulmar in early 2014 and commenced refurbishing it—to a very high standard. It was included in the 2021 and 2022 Southampton Boat Shows as an example of the Westerly brand. In 2022 Roger set off to sail singlehandedly round Britain, leaving from Chatham and going anti-clockwise.
