The Rally will begin in Ribadesella on June 20th and our final port of call will be Gihon, ending there on July 1st, perhaps spending time in Lastres, thus providing easy cruising between ports. The Rally has been timed to avoid the crowds that this coast attracts in high season, but when the weather should be kind to us. The scenery in this part of Spain is stunning, and the Northern coast has a very different culture to that of the Mediterranean. There is a great deal to see and do.
Capt Javier Moreno de la Vallina, our HLR in Asturias will be arranging visits and activities at each port. These will include exploring inland to the Picos de Europa, visiting the Tito Bustillo as well as the opportunities to sample the local cuisine and culture. He is also arranging discounted or free berthing and discounts at some restaurants so we will be sampling the local cuisine and Ciderias. The scenery in this area is stunning and facilities for yachts have improved in the past few years.
For those of you who will be making your way further west will have the option of exploring onwards toward the ports of Galicia, although it is possible to reach Viviero in two longish sails and from here, it is not too far to A Coruna. Those returning to France or the UK have the choice following the coast eastwards, or crossing directly to the French coast or beyond. There is no charge for CA members attending the Rally, but members will be expected to contribute to the costs of visits and entertainment.
The Registration form for the Rally is attached and completed forms should be emailed to biscay@theCA.org.uk
