London 2015 Boat Show Prize winners
East Coast CA member, Tom Clayton, was the lucky winner of our folding rib competition.
Tom joined the CA last year and enjoyed a summer trip around the Baltic. He sails with his wife and three children – as well as enjoying racing on a friend’s Beneteau at local regattas.
He started sailing 30 years ago, moving on to racing his cruiser/racer Ufo 31 in the early 1990s. He later returned to dinghies, racing in the 505 world championships and now enjoys cruising.
He was delighted when told he had won the rib, especially as his dinghy is a bit tired and he is planning a round Britain cruise this year. (Tom & Nicki Clayton pictured right)
The folding rib, worth £2,300, was supplied by www.foldablerib.com
We had the biggest ever number of entries to the draw which was open to anyone joining the CA between November and the end of January, any member calling by the stand at the London Boat Show, or any member sending in a photograph of their boat flying a CA burgee. In all, more than 1200 members entered the draw.
The prize includes oars, thwart and a bag, weighs only 36kg and fits into the back of a car or cockpit locker.
We have a great prize of a week’s charter on board a Jeanneau 45 in Croatia coming up over the next few months. Watch out for our newsletters every month for more details.
The second prize winner of a suit of Elite Henri Lloyd foul weather gear worth £825 was won by Richard Kitson. A member since 2004, Richard is involved in the Biscay and Wessex sections and enjoys sailing on his Westerly Ocean quest ‘Whileaway’ with partner Andrea. Richard has sailed since the mid 80s, initially on flotilla holidays and then bareboat chartering in Greece, Turkey and Croatia. In the first few years Richard and Andrea explored the south of England, then the Channel Islands and Northern France and for the last three seasons the west coast of France. |
