Vyv Cox, Anchors and Anchoring followed by an Aegean Tour it may be the case that anchors have undergone more change in the past 20 years than at any other area of yachting. From a situation in which choice was limited to three or four, mostly of quite elderly design, we now see at least one new one every year, each claiming to be better than the one that was introduced the previous year. New theories about anchor loads have contradicted long-held beliefs and much development has taken place on associated equipment such as swivels, shackles and chain. This talk attempts to explain all this in simple and entertaining engineering terms.
The second part of the evening is Vyv and Jill’s account of sailing STRAITSHOOTER, a Sadler 34 in the Aegean which has become one of their favourite parts of Greece and they have been based there for a few years.
