Cruising the Bahamas, with Angie and Mike Williams

Cruising the Bahamas (or Sailing in a Swimming Pool), with Angie and Mike Williams

Mike and Angie Williams left the UK in July 2005 with Lady of Lorien to cruise Spain, Portugal, Madeira, Canaries and the Caribbean. They spent five years around the US East Coast, returning to the Bahamas each winter as ‘snow birds’.

The talk will cover the pleasures and trials of sailing in warm, shallow waters with a 1.95 metre draught. Self-sufficiency is essential but the rewards are immense. .They hope to convince you that the Bahamas make for outstanding cruising and appear relatively undiscovered by UK yachts.

With increasing numbers of grandchildren, Angie and Mike returned to the UK via Bermuda and the Azores in 2011. They are unimpressed with the UK weather and are refitting Lady of Lorien to head back to the other side in 2014.
