What the modern ocean passage maker needs to know by Richard Falk. RYA Training Manager. Among many sailors there is a misconception that an ocean crossing is a little like a channel crossing, only longer. Nothing could be further from the truth. This talk is designed to give an overview of all of the elements involved in ocean passage making on a sailing vessel, with particular emphasis on the impact of developments over the last 10 or 15 years and how they can be used to assist. From menu planning to rig checks – we will touch on it all. And of course, we will also cover everyone’s favourite subject – navigation!
