The Port of London Authority, John Dillon-Leetch

The Port of London Authority has been in existence since 1908 and has had a hydrographic surveying function since that time to chart the river and estuary to support safe access and navigation for all mariners on the Thames.

John, The Port Hydrographer, will present on the varied work that the department undertakes to be able to accommodate over 1,000,000 vessel movements annually at the UKs No.1 trading port. The Hydrographic team provide charts, data and other products and services to cater for a range of users from the world’s largest container ships to the safe transit of over 5M passengers by water in central London. Hydrography is an exciting and developing field with new technology including high resolution sonars, aerial drones, remotely operated vessels and new digital chart products in development.

John will also cover the Port of London’s Thames Vision 2050 objectives and be able to take questions and hopefully provide some useful answers to the attendees.
