Details: The Day Skipper theory course is ideal for someone interested in learning how to sail or for someone that knows how to sail already but hasn't really done any navigation. This is a shore based course, so all the lessons will be carried out in CA House. The course equips you with enough knowledge to navigate around familiar waters by day. A basic knowledge of lights is also included to introduce you to night cruising.
Details: This is a one day course held in a classroom and a swimming pool. You will learn about and handle safety equipment. You will learn how to use it in an emergency. This has two elements. It starts at 9.30am with a classroom based course. There you will learn about crucial safety equipment, flares, life-rafts, distress beacons, lifejackets. You will learn the use of and operation of them and actually have the opportunity to examine the equipment at close quarters.

Details: In the unlikely event of a medical emergency at sea, prompt action and a little first aid knowledge can save lives. The one day RYA First Aid at Sea Course provides a working knowledge of First Aid for people using small craft, and support to skippers of yachts and small craft working within 60 nautical miles of a safe haven. The RYA First Aid at Sea Course is approved by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency.

The RYA Diesel Engine Maintenance Course is essential for all users of today's boats. Students are assessed by short exercises during the course and practical work with two demonstration engines.
